September 2025 – Version 2.0.0 DE (Bluetooth)

With Version 2.0.0 DE (Bluetooth), Alice gets exactly what many have been waiting for: wireless sound. From now on, Alice plays its tones, voices, and word lists directly to Bluetooth speakers or headphones—no cable clutter, no fiddling. Tap, pair, enjoy.

Why this update matters

Until now, sound stayed where Alice stood. With Bluetooth, the room becomes your stage: place a speaker exactly where you need it—and let Alice speak while you move freely.
The new audio engine under the hood (with buffering and resampling) keeps playback stable and stutter-free—even with varying WAV formats.

Highlights at a glance

One tap is all it takes: it opens the new Bluetooth menu.

Start pairing – smart scanning
Alice scans the surroundings and shows nearby Bluetooth speakers & headphones in a list.
→ Tap the device, press Connect, done.
→ PIN entry only if required.

Some devices ask for a code. Use the built-in number pad to enter e.g. 0000 or 1234.

Clear status feedback
White = Bluetooth off,
Yellow = scanning/pairing active,
Blue = connected.

Additionally, the menu shows:
“Connected to: ” or “Connecting…”.

Stable audio playback
A new buffering and resampling logic ensures clean, continuous output—regardless of whether your WAVs are, for example, 22.05 kHz or 44.1 kHz.

Quick disconnect
Tap Disconnect and Alice immediately switches back to the built-in speaker.

How to pair a speaker (in 30 seconds)

1. Tap the Bluetooth icon on the home screen to open the Bluetooth menu.

2. Tap Start pairing.

3. Hold your speaker’s pairing button until it’s in pairing mode (LED blinking).

4. Tap the speaker in the list → Connect.

5. After a few seconds you’ll see “Connected to: ”, the BT icon turns blue—audio is now wireless.

Note:
Alice sends audio to speakers/headphones (A2DP source).
Streaming from a smartphone to Alice is not supported.

Battery & operation

Bluetooth uses a bit more energy—depending on screen brightness/volume you can roughly expect ~10–25% shorter runtime while continuously connected.
For long sessions, simply connect Alice to a power bank via USB-C (works during operation).

Signature-verified update:
Firmware is verified during installation.
Update via USB: Direct—no SD card required.

Robust audio engine:
Background buffers prevent dropouts, with automatic adaptation to common WAV formats.

Frequently asked questions

My speaker asks for a code—what do I do?
Enter the code on the number pad (commonly 0000 or 1234) and tap Connect.

No device in the list?
Make sure the speaker is in pairing mode and tap Scan again. Keep the speaker and Alice close together.

Connected but no sound?

• Check volume on both Alice and the speaker.

• Tap Disconnect and connect again.

• Test with the short chime or a word—this tells you immediately whether the link is working.

Can I switch back to the internal speaker?
Yes—tap Disconnect in the Bluetooth menu. Alice immediately plays internally again.
